Well, I went ahead and ordered tickets to see the Police....

I got my reward code yesterday and ordered tickets for the Police in Tampa (St. Pete actually). I got First Level, First Section (Stage Left). Hope to get double my money on either Ebay, StubHub or Craigslist.

I like the Police, but not enough to go to the show for the amount I had to shell out for the tickets! With service charges, taxes, etc, 2 tickets cost close to $600. If I wanted 3rd level nosebleed seats, it would have been about $75 per ticket.

I had a friend sell tickets to see Chicago (the band, not the play) for about $250 each. Admittedly they were right by the stage, but they apparently tour all the time. I figure for 2 first level seats to see the Police, I should be able to get $500 each.

Side note: Chicago is my all-time favorite band, but I wouldn't pay $250 to see them. Got tickets here a few years back when they were touring with Earth, Wind & Fire for dirt cheap (had a connection) and really close.

I feel another Van Halen result.

Say what? That I intend to sell them for a profit? It's legal here in Florida.

Or that I like Chicago? Ok, they got cheesey in the 80's, but before and after are fantastic. Even way before when they were Chicago Transit Authority.

He's not selling the tickets for more, he's selling them for cover price, plus actual cost of FedEx, plus the handling/convenience fee.

Hey, if Ticketmaster can do it, why can't we?

I'm half tempted to see them as well (my brother emailed me the day I got the tickets, asking if I might be interested in going, little did he know...of course he knows now).

Though I'm in Arkansas (and he in Dallas), I got tickets for the Madison Square Garden show on Friday, August 3rd (from what I understand the last date in their stateside tour). I got floor tickets in Section 8, on the RH side aisle (back row). Cost me a total of $544. Have a lot of friends and relatives in the NY area, so all it'll cost me is a plane ticket.

Still, I'm tempted to sell them. I could've easily listed them for a $1000, but might just wait until the show nears. Of course, I run the risk of the tour getting bad reviews or them adding another show to NY.

Like I'd mentioned to you before, you'd get a lot more for the tickets than the presale code. However, you also run the risk of not getting any tickets due to the online rush that occurs when the presale starts. Read my previous post on the subject if you do decide to make a go at the tickets (some weird things happened, but I ultimately got them).

Hey Carnos; yeah, no love from the Police in Little Rock. Was hoping they'd make it but I really couldn't justify that kind of cost anyway. Maybe I'll just use the money I save to buy the remastered versions of their old stuff.

Zoid has a much better idea.
I'll send you some MSG audience loops.
Go to the local beverage place and ask to pay them $10 for a beer.
Invite some rude neighbors and drunk kids over and get a bag of w33d.
Turn your fi up to 105db or so, get some dry ice and hang some Xmas lights.

Priceless

Carnos, yah, you've had very good ideas with the topic, but I just don't feel right putting half a grand on the line in hopes of a 200% return. At least I know if I just sell the code I'm not out any money.

Yeah, I was hoping for a Memphis show. I know they're doing Dallas, and my bro's there, but I'd rather do Memphis or MSG for whatever reason.

Totally understand. One is easy money with no risk. The latter, I'm assuming the chances are that at the very least, I shouldn't lose any money. But then again, nothing's set in stone.

I don't pony up big money for concerts, though I envy somewhat those who do.

Chicago was great for a while, and I was a fan early on.

I tried to win tickets for The Police on my local radio station, but the lines were so jammed, I kept getting the "All circuits are busy..." alert. That almost *never* happens around here.

My local station (KFOG FM) had a phone interview with Stewart Copeland and he sounds like a great guy. From what he said, this should be a great tour.

I wish I was going to be there.

???

Was that a typo?

I have no love for Sting's self-indulgent post-Police work, but whether I like him or not he is 1/3 of the band. Without him the Police would just be Stewart Copeland, Andy Summers, and some other dude...not truly "The Police".

That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing them in concert at all...

...plus there's always the off-chance that Sting and Stewart Copeland will get into a fistfight on stage. ;)

mmmmmm, when ya bring up the thought of a fist fight 'tween them 2 and watching stink (and his f'n' lute) getting paradiddled, that's be worth the price of admission.

Celebrity Death Match!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it'd be almost as good as seeing Bond's era Clash live again.

still the only band that mattered.
