Isn't Vienna Sausage an imitation to begin with? Disgusting stuff.

I saw the Red Bird in a store and bought it because the "Imitation" in the name cracked me up. I carried it all summer in the band's Winebago and nobody would eat it. Finally the lead singer said he would eat it for a dollar per piece. After about the third piece he started turning green. The Dobro player was watching and got sick and ran out the door and threw up behind a tree.

A few weeks later I was in a guy's office and saw a can of it on his shelf. I asked him why he had it and he said his wife put it in his lunch. He said there was no way he was going to eat it and thought it was funny so he put in on the shelf.

I have tried Jimmy Dean's turkey-based imitation sausage.

And the taste is pure- imitation.

I can taste the seasoning, but there's no hint of meat taste.

Disappointing, but tolerable, unlike some of the Costco food surprises.

I ordered ham and eggs in Hawaii and got Spam and eggs.

I asked about ham, and the waiter said 'It's our ham, brah!'

I said, 'Ah, haole, right?'

He laughed and said 'On the house, brah!'

Spam is ok by me.

I enjoy Spam on a outdoor grille. Sliced into patties, so the fat drips off.

How about corned beef hash? The red stuff with white cubed potatoes? I saw that on a menu 5 years ago and it brought me back to childhood! I buy a couple of cans a year!
