Ecobee Smart Sensors

Has anyone bought these recently? One of my original sensors can't be placed optimally as it won't connect with the thermostat. Apparently, the new versions have a much better range than the originals. However, I've heard and read of complaints that the batteries don't last nearly as long in the new design. Curious if anyone has experience with the newer sensors.

I bought and installed an ecobee with 3 sensors about 6 months ago and everything is still working fine.

Do they have the silver cone base or clear plastic base? The former is the new style.

I have only the older clear base sensors, and the batteries do seem to last a long time. I don't have any connectivity issues or experience with the newer ones.

These don't have the range of the newer sensors, which is why I'm looking at the newer style sensor.

Heads up - right now the Smart Sensors are onsale at Ecobee.com for $49.99 a pair. They only do this once a year and this time it's 3 days only. I bought mine yesterday. don't know when the 72 hour clock started ticking.

Thanks. Bit the bullet as well. Hopefully, some of the reviews from 2019 are outdated and they work well.

Just confirming the ecobee system does not require a subscription?

I see that they do offer a subscription service, but it's not required for use of the thermostat and basic systems, correct?

i think it's for the home monitoring/alarm system they've come up with.

Thanks, that's how I read it.

I'm installing one next week, did not want to risk a thermostat failing in MN in Jan due to a credit card billing issue...
