Need a new "series" or movie to watch on Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV or Amazon... Suggestions?

Ok, everything I seem to watch on Netflix is the same crap regurgitated... Not bad per say... However, I watched one detective show with overdubs (Capitani) then started watching Signs (with overdubs) and both shows are almost the damn same in a different way... Even have a "simple" mentally challenged adult child that the town seems to have adopted and take care of... So, I'm about ready to cancel Netflix for the time being. So, looking for a decent series or movie to check out this weekend that maybe my wife would enjoy with me. Oh, and the Last Blockbuster documentary is so depressing... sad smiley

The Fall, very dark. UK
Shameless, not for everyone. Very twisted black comedy
Docudramas on Hulu on Einstein and Aretha.
Godless if you haven't.
Dix pour Cent (aka Call My Agent) if you don't mind subs or are French fluent.
Spooks, 1st 2 seasons are pretty good. UK
Mr Inbetween, black comedy from Australia.
Money Heist (La casa de papel), too slow for us. In Spanish.
Get Shorty, if you haven't.
Girl/Haji, Japanese cop thriller. Haven't started it myself, but well received.
Anne with an E. Aussie, haven't started myself.
Criminal: UK, Spain, France, Germany. 3 eps each.
Chernobyl. 5 eps.

Im in this same qaundry -- but I rarely watch TV. Not enough time. Never seen Breaking bad, or GoT, for example.

Friday Night Lights is a good one.

Dead To Me on Netflix. 2 seasons of 10 episodes.

Good writing and acting although I am having trouble accepting the current plot trend where good people make bad decisions. Stopped watching Behind Her Eyes completely because of that. But Dead To Me is believable and an interesting exploration of female friendship.

Agree on Dead to Me, funny and original, great cliff hangers IIRC, good watch.

That alone makes it tempting for me. I don't want a long term viewing commitment. Last series of any kind I watched was The Good Place. I'm glad I stuck with it.

UPRIGHT! If you haven't seen it already, what are you waiting for?!? It will catch you right away — there are no weak or wasted episodes (only 8 of them, total). I used Amazon to subscribe to the Sundance Now channel, but I think you can get it on Apple TV as well (you should be offered some sort of free trial period).

Seriously, it's great. Humor, adventure, terrific cinematography, and engaging, far-from-perfect characters. Plus a heartbreaking, but satifying ending.

Also LOTS of swearing, so beware of toddlers listening in... Old Fogette

Surprised no one mentioned it yet. Slide it to the top of the list. I think you'll really enjoy it.

I remember this bizarre "collar bomb" robbery / scavenger hunt happening live on TV in 2003. Very compelling.
