In my learning about all the good/bad with OLED screens on phones, it was mentioned that they dim with use and time.

How does that affect buying/selling a used OLED phone? Anything one should be aware of?

I’m not worried about any phone sold in the last three years. Samsung and LG have OLEDs down.

I would check the screen of any used phone if buy regardless.

Of course, checking the screen. But what is the average shelf life of that type of screen?

What's the oldest screen of that type ok to buy, say having been used 6 hours a day average?

All my screens seldom see 50% brightness, and almost never more than that.

I wasn't aware of 'shelf life' for an OLED screen.

I'm honestly not sure what the concern is. I've owned all sorts of Apple devices, and the screens have lived long and healthy lives. The latest OLEDs in the iPhone X models are not showing more rapid aging than other iPhones; we had one in daily use until a few months ago, used daily for 3+ years and the screen was still fine.
