Thanks modelamac. I was looking for an article like that because I will not subscribe to the Washington Post either. That's a pretty good description of how they freed the Ever Given.

Is there a new rule or expectation that only free media can be recommended? The number of streaming service shows discussed on the forum is going to plummet if that's the case. My cartographer friends the the WaPo did a lot of hard work to tell a compelling story.

It's deeply personal to me that the world has changed to one that thinks mere content should be free, as creating content was how I expected to earn my living.

Someday Amazon Prime could include an online subscription to The Washington Post.

I have subscription to WaPo, NYT and Apple News +, and I will probably add more in the future.

Worked for me and I have no subscription.

I do wish the industry had settled on a micropayment model so that I could pay 30 cents to read one story in the Indianapolis Star or Arkansas Gazette without needing to create an account and pay for 30 days with autorenewal.

There should be a service where you could pay maybe $100 or $200 a year and pick 10 newspapers a year. I'd do that.
