landline to Ting then to Gvoice? ~$20.
Just need unlocked SIM phone and Ting SIM?
Obihai or Ooma box.
I know Ooma makes a BT box.
Is there the same kind of thing for Gvoice Obihai?

Fritz,

Get Google Voice number. Port from landline to cell phone. Port from cell phone to Google Voice. Have it replace the Google voice # or pay a one-time fee to keep both numbers. Buy Obihai box. Affiliate it with Google Voice. Connect regular phone to box. Done.

That would have to be a 2nd cell? Or just swap SIM if unlocked?

Fritz,

No idea. I ported my Vonage VOIP number to an old AT&T Cell Phone that I was no longer using. From there I moved it to Google Voice. I felt that was easier than messing around with my cell and swapping sims and such.

I would think you could do it with a SIM swap on your primary phone if it's unlocked. Just be aware that if you need to receive any text messages during the port for authentication you'll need to have that SIM in the phone.

Fritz,

A dirt cheap AT&T Wireless GoPhone account or similar account with a different pay as you go provider is perfect for this. Move the number to the pay as you go phone then port it from there to Google Voice. Close the pay as you go account once the port is done.

If you go the GoPhone method, the hardest part will be getting the actual account information affiliated with the GoPhone. You'll need that to port the number from AT&T Wireless (or any other provider for that matter) to Google Voice.

I had to call them to get it since it wasn't readily available via the web account or any other method. Once you have it, porting from the pay as you go phone to Google Voice is easy. I dumped the account once the port was confirmed complete.

Note, this was all done nearly six years ago. I doubt the process has changed much over the years.

I'm thinking this. Time will tell.
