Following up to
my original and
Follow Up posts asking whether or not I discovered a long-lost photo of my Dad from 1945, I'm pretty sure I have the definitive answer now.
My sister retrieved some of my Dad's belongings this past weekend; amongst them were some photo albums which included a photo of the photo in question, apparently mounted on posterboard at a display of some sort. On it, in my Dad's own writing, he identified himself (as well as one other person).
My guess is that my Aunt (mentioned in the FU post) saw the display, took a picture of it, and sent that to him at some point.
She herself was the subject of a storyboard at a "history of Chinatown" exhibit a number of years ago - I assume the photo I re-discovered was part of that exhibit.
I'm just glad to know that he got to see it while alive, and that my Aunt now has a high-res version of the original thanks to my re-discovery.
