It doesn't look like it's 380 meters in height.

I guess you just have to be there to appreciate it. Until recently, it was the tallest structure in all of Europe. It still is the tallest structure in the EU. I bet the antenna maintenance guys have fun climbing this thing. Especially when it's windy...

There was a UHF station in NE Ohio that had a mast that was about that height. I used to drive by it on I-71 every day when I was commuting 110 miles one way to work. Climbing that.... wooh. Definite an all day job, and don't stand underneath when the climber has to pee.

My nephew took a job as antenna maintenance - he lasted one day. He told me the guys who do it told him many never even make it halfway up.

Once you are more than 50 feet up, you are likely dead if you fall. So the remaining 1200 feet doesn't really matter. It is just more time to think about the lawn care job you turned down if you fall.

My B-I-L did that job for a while on the various broadcast antennas in Needham, MA. The pay was great, the job...not so much. Long hard climb, and anything dropped quickly became lethal.

"Stupid money" is what he called it.

The highest antenna towers I've ever climbed were the 60 foot capture effect glide slope towers.

Hell, you can buy a penthouse in one of the 'billionaire buildings' in NYC at that height.

So the remaining 1200 feet doesn't really matter.

Well, it does give more time for your life to flash in front of you.

I would assume/hope the climber would have, and use, some sort of safety strap(s)....

That pee would never hit the ground -- at least not directly beneath the tower.

Sometimes they have elevators. This one did and my father, an electrician, rode to the top just to see the sights:
