Another round of 'free upgrades' for some Comcast captives
Posted by: MrNoBody

As Comcast's fiber lines edge closer to my 'hood, got another of
their 'free upgrades'. The Blast! service began @ 200Mbps has now
crept up to 500Mbps.

Took two reboots of the modem (SB6190) to activate.
Maybe T-Mobile is to thank for offering 5G Home in the area? [forums.macresource.com]

I just wish that in instances where T-Mobile is advertising a service like 5G home internet, they would publish maps of the coverage area. I hate having to punch in my address and getting a "sorry, not yet" message and wondering how close I am to getting real competition.

The race is on. Currently with Comcast but AT&T is rolling out 1000/1000 fiber next month in my area for $99 for 12 months, no contract

is there a data cap on that plan?

a household rarely needs 1000, I could see how this wold be useful for an apartment building with several people sharing such a connection.

imagine if you can split the bill with 4 other people and you can have a 200/200 guaranteed and as much as 1000/1000 if the other users are not doing heavy traffic.

I doubt that ATT ToS do not allow such scenario....

Wondering about the data cap as well. Although in my case, it doesn't really matter. Searching my address shows I can get is "up to" 18Mbps.sad smiley

Currently Comcast has a data cap of 1.25 TB per month but also give two month grace if you go over.

AT&T is going to 100% streaming. Even if you ask for a "cable box" what they really give you is a smart device with their app preloaded. If you have a smart TV or Apple TV, Firestck etc just download their app for the same experience. So I guess they are set up for serious data demands
