Ever just walk up to a person with a Mac and start a conversation?

Anyone ever strike up Mac conversations with strangers? I used to do this back when Macs weren’t as prevalent. I would strike up Mac related conversations with people at the airport. They would love to talk Macs as well. Been a while since I have done that. These days, someone will look at you funny for doing this.

How do you do this while remaining socially-distanced?

Yes, me too. I’d also ask people with the butterfly keyboard Macs what they thought of them (about 50% negative). Nowadays I only do it if I know them or they appear to be struggling with something, for the most part. Mac laptops seem to outnumber Windows models where I travel.

Once in a while...

I also struck up a conversation with a lady driving a Tesla Model 3 (a nice red one!) the other day. She adores the car, and spoke with the sort of fervor that us Mac folk would find very familiar.

exactly my experience. used to be that any mac user was an ally. Kinda like me being an hockey fan in Sacramento - I see a guy wearing NHL colors, we strike up a conversation.

But now, everyone has macs and they aren't all allies :-)

So that was you that I ran into admiring my 2007 MBP and telling me that you "used to have one" but haven't seen anyone using one lately. (This was sometime around 2019 or early 2020 when I was still flying regularly.
