My Moderna #2 shot hit me like a punch in the face. Cruising along like nothing for 10-12 hours, then came the pain. 105fever, cold chills, pains all over the body, weakness. There was more, but I'll spare everyone further gory details.

Exactly 48 hours after the shot, on the dot, it all passed with nothing left but a sore arm.

Pfizer #2 put me in the couch for four days. YMMV. My daughter in law only had a sore arm from her Pfizer #2.

Still 1000% better than getting COVID-19 (because we had it...)

I had intense whole body pain for a night and a day on Moderna #2 and after that fine. Hope you experience nothing and congratulations!

We had zero issues with Moderna besides soreness at the injection site, probably because we are old and our immune systems didn’t react with much vigor.

Sore as heck left arm for the next two days.
Slept a lot, stumbled around the house (zombie mode, freaked the cats out), ate some food, slept more.
Felt much better Mon morning. Still some soreness around injection point.
Waiting out the 14 day "quarantine" period now.

Wife and I had our second Moderna last week (even though we actually had, and recovered from, Covid last December).

At 8 hours she says, “are you feeling kinda crummy? I am.”

No, sez I - I’m fine. Which I was, for the next 15-30 minutes. Then like clockwork, it started.

Feeling feverish, a little achy (tho nowhere near actual Covid), couldn’t sleep. Breathing increased a bit and exercise tolerance decreased a little.

Felt better after a day or two; prolly not fully recovered for 3-4.

Well, it’s 8 AM PDT - here’s an update:
  • No fever, at least not yet.
  • Perhaps the start of the tiniest headache.
  • Achy all over (even my balls ache!) but not to the point I would consider painful.
  • Started with the chills around 3:30 AM - woke up out of a sound sleep to find myself shivering profusely under the covers.
  • Aside from the chills, I got one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a LONG time.
  • Shoulder where I got the shot is sore as @#$%&.
  • I’m hungry — that’s always a good sign.
I planned ahead of time to take the day off work today, so I’m typing this from the comfort of my own bed. If this is as bad as it gets, I’d have to say I did pretty well compared to some of you. The day is still young, though...

Same with me except for very minor fatigue for a couple of days. Moderna #2 was one week ago.

My son is due for his second shot but had to delay a few days. His store are asking employees to let them schedule the second shot so they won't be short staffed. They assume everyone will be out for two days after getting it.

Wife and I got #2 Sunday afternoon, think it was phizer.

Nuthin. Sore arm, still sore today, but meh. No other symptoms.

This happened to my wife, she was fine for the first day and the fever on the second day. She slept almost 24 hours.

I had a reaction to both Moderna shots with fever, aches, chills, headache. Both times, it took about 8 hours for the onset and after about 36 hours I felt fine--except the sore arm lasted longer. In fact, I had 'Moderna arm' after the first shot which is a rash and swelling at the injection site. A very sore arm after the second, but no rash or anything.

The good news is you know you're not actually sick, and it's nothing a little time and acetaminophen won't fix.

I credit my bad reaction to having had Covid only a few weeks prior to the first shot.

12:30 PDT update:
  • More achy now than I was this morning, throughout more of my body. Some of my joints have joined the party, too.
  • Still on the cusp of a headache.
  • More fatigued than when I woke up this morning - I've actually been sleeping on and off since my last post.
Gutting it out without taking any sort of pain medication - I don't want to do anything to reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine now that I finally have it.

I find it interesting that there is such variety in the type and severity of side-effects of the vaccinations. I realize everyone is different, but there seems to be some wide-ranging degrees of misery associated with these things. And yet some people (myself for one), had effectively nothing in terms of side-effects. My wife had her first Pfizer this morning. I hope she does as well as my daughter (Moderna) and I (Pfizer) did.

Don’t forget that when it comes to these vaccines, we’re all lab rats. None of them have full FDA approval yet — they did just enough research to establish effectiveness and safety met or exceeded minimum requirements.

When got my first Moderna shot at Rite Aid on April 20th, I asked the pharmacist about this. He said don't worry; you can take pain any pain meds you want, and it will not reduce he effectiveness of the vaccine.

BTW: You were right about Rite Aid and pistachio ice cream...

We're all pretty damn old here. wink smiley

Reactions seem to be common with Moderna, particularly the second shot, but pretty rare with Pfizer.
