Plugged in Pismo....almost burned down the house

I still use my Pismo for writing and various legacy tasks, but I haven’t plugged it in for a few months. I decided to use an old PowerBook duo adapter - was on the top of my power cable box for some reason. It was working just fine for about 20 minutes, I turned away for a couple minutes and started smelling burning. Turned around and white smoke was coming out of the adapter. I pulled it from the wall pronto in the Pismo. No fire, and the wooden table it was lying on was not at all warm, luckily. But I can only imagine what would’ve happened after a few more seconds or minutes of electricity running through it. Capacitor failure I would assume.
The pismo’s batteries work, so it never even noticed. I replaced it with a much newer Apple yo-yo adapter, and it has been working fine. Been airing out the house, but it still smells like burning. Happy to be alive.

I’d buy one running on an M1 in a second. Mr Fusion would make a great power supply...

That's a good video, but I thought it would be this one! Guy doesn't seem to understand the urgency!

I need to fire up my Pismos to see if there's any life (or even any fire) left in them.

Um, I need to find them first...

Bring your fire extinguisher when you DO find them...

LOL and I didn't realize that I'd said "fire them up" until re-reading now...

Your subconscious knows more about you than you do.

I will happily accept donation of any non-flammable pismos.

I am also not responsible for anyone that burns down their home.
