Recommendation for Adapter Lightning to Aux for car stereo for iPhone 12
Posted by: Microman

So I enjoy the great stereo in my Corolla. But I cant hook up the AUX cable, as there is no hole for that on the iPhone 12.

Does someone have a recommendation of a Lighting to Aux cable.

I think a cable with possible Lighting to AUx and Lighting for charging at the same time would be better than the boxy type.

Recommendations, thanks...

just get a bluetooth adapter that plugs into the AUX, then play the phone over bluetooth, no cable needed

What Ombligo said. And a wireless charger cradle for the phone. The only fuss is with having to charge the bluetooth adapter periodically, or just run a wire to it.

Alternatively retrofit the radio in the vehicle for something with built in bluetooth. And Carplay. And all the fancy stuff. That's my next step.

Micro,

Or, if you prefer to listen to your own music rather than stream it, pickup a cheap MP3 player and connect it to the stereo AUX-in. My '09 CX-7 has bluetooth but it's only for the phone. It doesn't work for music. The speakerphone built into the car works nicely via bluetooth.

For music, I could use a bluetooth adapter connected to the AUX-In but that could cause issues when trying to use my phone with the bluetooth built into the car stereo. My solution for a very long time was an iPod Nano.

I tossed 8 gigs of music onto the nano, connected it to the stereo via AUX and all was solid. Then I realized I needed far more space than 8 gigs for my music. I replaced the iPod with an Oakcastle MP100:

I threw a spare 32GB chip into it, added loads of music and it does the job nicely. I prefer the interface of the iPod but the Oakcastle was the best of the MP3 players I found for the money in both design and features.

Phone works for calls. The Oakcastle pumps music to the car. I charge it as necessary and its battery life is excellent. If I really want to charge the oakcastle in the car, I'll connect a cable from it to a cigarette lighter to USB dongle I have in place for charging my phone and dashcam. It has 3 USB ports. One is always available for the Oakcastle inthe event I need to charge it.

Cables are a little ungainly, but with a great stereo and better files than mp3, I'd use them over BT in a heartbeat.
