One upper body workout and about 8 miles walked. Avoided too much sugar. Trying to get decent again for summer. Dollar Tree is making it difficult with so many cheap treats.

4.3 mi/day, about as good as it gets. Complete lack of weight loss is slightly less good than it gets.

Rode a recumbent exercise bike for 30 minutes every day last week (while watching Robert Sapolsky's "Great Courses" series.

Rowed a 10k on the Concept II indoor rower each day (while listening to Middlemarch).

On Saturday walked in Stanley Park for 10k steps.

Last week, hit 29-million lifetimes meters on the rowing machine, just a million meters short of rowing 3/4 of the way around the world.

Congrats on your milestone, Todd’s keyboard! I walked 19.6 miles at a 3+ MPH pace. As far as losing weight, we are screwed:

Myth: Dieting and exercise will reverse severe obesity.

“there is growing evidence that diet and exercise alone are usually ineffective in decreasing and maintaining a lower BMI, particularly for people with severe obesity, defined as a BMI of 40 or more. In fact, weight loss causes hunger to increase and metabolism to slow down, which can lead to weight regain. Most of the contestants on “The Biggest Loser” have ended up gaining a significant amount of weight back.”

Two 10 mile bike rides and 4 hours of yard work/lawn mowing this week.

I was doing good up until last September/October. The pandemic hasn't helped. A little too much comfort food and drink.

Well I could barely walk last Weds & Thursday (after throwing out my back), but have been back on my feet since Friday, regaining my flexibility a bit more each day. Managed pushups yesterday and today so by that measure I am fine, but still a bit stiff in the lower back. Getting back into other things slowly.

Pushed the mower across my 0.25 acres, and shoveled a 6 inch mound of dirt.
I twisted my back in the process, and am in agony.
I'll try physical activity again this time next year.

Using a PC right now in Firefox, but if you open those links in a new private window (I forget what Safari calls this), you should get the whole article every time. On occasion viewing the article using the Reader option can be a workaround on other blocking websites.

As of last Friday I had lost 10 lbs. Gained a pound or two over the weekend. Still walking 2-3 miles a day and eating more plants.

You talked me into it. I will start tracking my weight. Maybe that will push me a bit.

Picked up a rescue Pug last Saturday; a little gal will be 3 in August brought to the States from a puppy mill in China.

We had hoped she would be my wife's best friend, but instead has latched onto me and has become my shadow. She is ready to DO SOMETHING just about any time and since my yard is not completely enclosed, doing something means putting her on a leash and going for a walk.

Well, it has been reasonably cool so far and she can easily go a mile or more, so with three or four walks a day I am getting two miles or more of walking each day. While we are walking, it is a brisk pace, but of course there are frequent stops for the doggy news. My Steps app is LOVING it!

Got to the Y today for a strength workout. Not very many people there so distancing was easy.

Finishing up the persimmon pudding I made for visitors the other day is testing the calorie count.
