And it's totally nerve wracking! We haven't had a major release since 2017 so hopefully people like it. It's been out in beta so if you want to preview it, you can launch CCC, open Preferences and check the box next to "Inform me of beta releases." Next time you check for updates you'll see CCC 6 and there's a 30 day free trial as always.

I'd say let me know if you have questions but we're going to be so slammed that you're better off putting in a ticket from within CCC. I'm interested in feedback that doesn't need an immediate response, though!

Any upgrade deals for those that have been paying customers since it was shareware or donationware? I forgot what is was called, it must have been CCC 2 or CCC 3 back then.

We offer a 50% discount for CCC 5 users and 25% for CCC 4. CCC 4 was released 6 1/2 years ago so that's as far back as our discount program goes. No discount older versions, since they are so old at this point. Do you have one of the newer ones?

Clone of my boot drive, (ext USB 3, 2 TB NVMe, about 850 GB), to a 1.25 TB Fusion drive takes 20+ minutes. I wont even mention the time for my 6 TB RAID to a 8 TB basic platter....

jdc, seriously, Quick Update made my in-house network backup go from painful to a breeze. Went from hours to minutes! It doesn't apply to every situation and I'm not the expert to tease out every single dependency but it applies often enough that it's a big deal.

This is great news, and I am excited that you are continuing to improve you product.

But, while I will definitely upgrade eventually, it's funny that I just went over my 2020 expenses yesterday before submitting my tax return. The upgrade expense to v5 was a no brainer on my Schedule C for important backups, so I felt pretty good about it. Didn't realize it was so old, but then I'm a couple of OSes behind, so I will probably wait to upgrade until necesary.

This was my last need before moving to Big Sur. Awesome.

We'll keep bootable backups happening as long as we can, but it's an Apple decision at this point that we can't work around. Mike just posted a blog article about it Beyond Bootable Backups: Adapting recovery strategies for an evolving platform.

Also, CCC 6 is live! If you head on over to our Features page and click on "New in CCC 6" at the top you can get an overview. There are some really great new features that we've been wanting to release for years!

I just checked, and though I am currently on version 5, my computer is too old to run OS 10.15. I'm stuck on 10.13 and therefore can't run CCC. 6

I'm still considering upgrading to 6 though for the household (son & wife) who are way more advanced than I.
