But I already have a Rigid... =(

Some nice 2 battery + stuff -- blower, impact, orbit sander, hammer drivll, sawzall.

Spend $400 and end up with 4 tools and 8 big 4.0 batteries...

Wish it was lifetime warranty like my rigid..

Need a recommendation. The drill I bought from Harbor Freight a few years ago (don't really remember when) has died. Won't hold a charge. I'm not much of a DIY'er. Maybe need to drill something twice a year. But I think every homeowner should have a drill.

Are any of these Ryobi deals suitable for my limited need? Are they overkill?

For lawn/garden tools I'm heavily invested in the Ego battery system already but I don't think they have any power tools.

The 5" circular saw is still sold out.

Greylocks - there are 2 drill packages on this page for $99 or $89:

There really isn't a "deal" with a basic 1/2 drill/driver.

Theres a kit with drill + impact for about $100 with some smaller batteries... should be more than fine.

EDIT this one: [www.homedepot.com]

might not ever use the impact, but its $20 more than the drill alone and you get another battery.

My Rigid has the smaller battery, goes for a very long time doing standard everyday stuff. Still on the same battery for the last 6 months or so... even after installing a dozen bamboo shades last weekend. about 100 screws.

The big batteries are great if you want to use bigger stuff, like a sawzall, or a circ saw, etc.

Honestly, mine got heavy after awhile, I would prob pickup a compact set.

If you need a drill only occasionally, I'd just pick up an old corded drill, which you'll have for the rest of your life.

actually i still have my late brother’s corded drill. it’s probably older than my son and he’s 27. definitely the cord is a factor when i contemplate using it. similar to having a guitar in a case. taking it out is not a big deal but guitars in a stand get plays more often.

Plus, you don't need to charge a battery to use it. Batteries don't like to just sit around.
