Kasa vs. Alexa for grouping and controlling smart home devices...any advice?

I've been adding a bunch of TP-Link switches and plugs around the house lately. Setting them up through Kasa to function has been easy but I'm struggling with the most efficient way to do groups/scenes/automation etc. Seems like you can do some things in Kasa but others may make more sense in Alexa.

Any general advice on how to approach using the two apps in unison? I'm trying to use Alexa for as much as I can

I have 7 Kasa plugs but run all except one through Alexa. that one device is on a simple timer in the Kasa app though i do still have it tied into Alexa. i do think the most efficient route is to use one app for grouping so i use Alexa.

Alright…sounds like I’m not crazy that it might be more convenient to use Alexa for the grouping and control end of things

I've got five Kasa smart plugs and none grouped or controlled by Alexa.

How do I do that?

first pull them into Alexa. You’ll need to install the TP Link Kasa skill thru the Alexa app. Once installed your app should discover the Kasa plugs when you tap devices. You might also have to tap Plugs.

Do what the app tells you to activate them in Alexa.

Anyone else having Alexa "lose" TP-Link/Kasa connections?
This is with Echo Dots & the iOS Alexa app.
(Alexa reports "not responding, check power, yada yada".)
I'm seeing it happening erratically but more often when I turn Wi-Fi off
on my iPhone. It's only with TP-Link plugs yet they all function fine
via Kasa or using the manual button.

Doesn't happen with any of my 'Smart Life' controlled bulbs or plugs.

not seeing it with my Kasa plugs at all. I do have a 2nd gen Echo that seems a little hard of hearing but that's a different issue entirely.

Thank you for that, gl.

I'll give it a shot.
