A reminder of why I had a crush on Olivia Newton-John

I heard A Little More Love on the radio. Hadn't heard it for years.

Then the rabbit hole took me to this version of Magic:

Yum!

I'm sure I wasn't the only radio guy in the early 70s who had this album cover propped up in the studio to gaze at. I always sort of felt like I 'discovered' her.

When "I Honestly Love You" came on the radio, she was singing it to ME and she meant it.

Yeah, me too.

But in modern times, I think it's a pretty lousy song.

I came to prefer and or be inspired by women singers music/sound/etc -- and think she was responsible. Never could get into "men" music the same. Say, like the Stones... meh.

Never did the posters on the wall of bikini women, thought it was kinda tacky. Although it Didnt hurt that she looked great.... but women artists still rule my playlists. This was always one of my faves of her. No skin, no see thru -- just looks right at you.

I was nine when this song came out and I still had a crush on her.

It is what it is.

Grease had come on the TV a few days ago and I was telling my wife how I had a crush on ONJ back in the day

And then you post this!

I didn't like it then, and still don't.

But she was always quite fit.

My fave ONJ song

San Antonio, TX (in the old city)

"All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
“Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." - Eli Weisel

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"I don’t want to see religious bigotry in any form. It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it." - Billy Graham 1981

"Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise" - Barry Goldwater

her better pop was a brilliant creation of John Farrar, her long time producer. There were lots of mediocre pop songs, but some really great ones.
Physical, You're the One that I Want, Magic, and a few others. Some written by Farrar.
She was smokin' hot when I was in High School even if it wasn't my kind of mellow.
But John Farrar is the unsung hero of her sound. I listened to her hits for his sound. He was one of the 1st post George Martin era producers I latched onto when I started in the music biz.
It's not like she was gifted with a voice like Susan Tedeschi, who was also a frightening honey.
A friend of mine worked with her 20 years ago in Nashville (along with every other person who works in music in Nashville) where she lives. Said she was the nicest human.

Well, all I will say is don't look up photos of her daughter. And I'm certain that you won't.

Never heard of her before, but after looking... whole lotta work done on that face (and apparently her body too); sad.
