ALIEN sighting in metro Atlanta...

EDIT UPDATE: Turns out I goofed: that production sign is actually for Stranger Things. Which is still pretty cool, but a xenomorph is apparently not involved.

Out running errands today and saw yellow production signs reading WEYLAND. "Hey, is that like...." [quick Google] Yes: like the evil Company in the Alien movies. Turns out Disney is filming a new ALIEN streaming series a couple of miles away from my house. Hopefully they won't nuke the site from orbit this time around.

If they’re filming where I think they’re filming (based on proximity), it’s perfect. The kind of location that they’d never be able to build even if they had unlimited resources, and all they’ll have to do is show up and turn on the cameras. Basement of the WWII-era Lockheed assembly line building, which is scary as hell under completely normal circumstances. We even called it “the catacombs” when I worked there.

Is that up in the Marietta area, near Dobbins?

....you know.....a lot of times film companies will use 'aliases' so that no one knows exactly what is being filmed to avoid crowds.......might be a "Marvel' or 'Star Wars' movie....???

That's right. Lockheed is co-located with Dobbins ARB and the Georgia National Guard headquarters.

The people who track production signs around here assure me it's for the Alien series.

Cobra Kai films in this area too, meaning I suppose that a crossover is not entirely out of the question...

I’ve noticed those yellow signs seem to be getting back to pre-pandemic levels, so hopefully lots of things are shooting again.

My dad worked there when I was a kid in the late ‘60s to early ‘70s. I remember the C5As screaming overhead.

The Air Force recently pushed the whole C-5 fleet back through the plant for a complete avionics rebuild. Took several years. Several very... loud... years.

The hangar where they did the renovations was astonishing. The top of the tail section was (I think, it's been a while) six stories above the ground. They could only get two jets in there at a time.

They also got more fuel efficient and powerful engines as well.

Agreed. There are more crew signs around my part of Sandy Springs the last few weeks. We've had a few commercials and part of Instant Family filmed in my neighborhood. In fact, Mark Wahlberg almost ran into me in my minivan while leaving the set in a Mustang Convertible one afternoon.
