prolly me, but even though I know that Guy is an alright human, seems like he's throwing some crap here. And Kara, who's interviewing, seems a fan-girl rather than in interviewer.

I know he's an alright human, but his on-air persona annoys me and I don't want to listen to a podcast featuring him.

Would you mind summarizing?

heh, heh, heh, me too.
There's a transcript there too.

They talk about the restaurant revitalization act, his new $80M TV contract, that he "throws off" $230M/yr. Etc.

Just pisses me off, as in '08, that these big businesses with multi million dollar CEOs are getting low interest loans or grants from the Fed without dropping a dime. Hospitals, insurance companies, Detroit cars, airlines.
While they complain they can't find $10/hr employees to shovel their ...

Reminds me a bit of Warren DeMontague

Fieri does come across as a tool.

It is what it is.

Odd interview, although I understand more about Guy....why I don't like him....and I suspect it splits across political lines.

A lot of bluster, almost nothing to say.

Its no surprise that flavortown doesn't like rules. But we already knew that.

I'm not a foodie, so I never watched any of his shows, but I've always thought the guy was a gasbag just by hearing him talk occasionally. I've always just assumed that he must be a really good chef for people to put up with that.

He highlights simple, satisfying places which sounds like it would have value but he he's so obnoxious you might hate the whole project.

Look at that hair, he's a rock star!

Fieri's stock in trade is in part being a character. No big deal to me, lots have made a career of it. He's, by intent, partially a walking cartoon.

But Fieri the man has done much good, and from my perspective, shown some real humanity.

In the linked interview, he shows another side of his personality. He's the classic 1%er trying really hard to stifle his 1%er reflexes. Belief in most other 1%ers being hard working stiffs, just like their staff. Elbow grease, ambition and a real love for what you're doing will get you through those tough shifts/days/weeks. The 1%er sacrifices are right up there with the rank and file. And, gosh, if whistling while you grind doesn't get you through, well, not every job is for everybody.

Unions? Minimum wage? Working conditions? Those sure are tough questions, but, he'll think real hard about them. Theres something at least simulating sympathy under it all, its proof is just bit of a mystery.

A mixed bag, like us all. I harbor him no ill will.

The bartender asks the rabbit "what'll ya have?"
The rabbit says "I dunno. I'm only here because of Autocorrect.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

So, went back and looked at the transcript...

Well, that’s my point. I mean, the Republicans are saying they’re relying on unemployment that they’re getting. I think they’re just @#$%& jobs. Hours and pay in the industry can sometimes be grueling. A lot of workers are in unsafe conditions —

guy fieri
But hang on a second. I want to back that up for a second. The restaurant business is awesome.

...Says the guy who just locked in a deal for $80 million with what used to be the Food Network.

:::sigh:::
