can we please STOP responding to texts with "loved this message!"

Or similar. I"m going nuts on group chats with the parents of my kids' friends who use this more than they send any texts. I feel like there has to be a global intervention on this.

I think your beef is with Apple. The parents are using the tapback feature. In a group text with Android users, these expressions are spelled out as text.

As a user, I appreciate the feature. It's a quick and easy way to acknowledge a message without having to think of something to say.

Same; datbeme is just pointing out the issue is a technical one between how Apple & Android handle text messages.

While we're griping about this, can we stop people from using text messages as though they're on facebook! My brother is on vacation in Hawaii and he and his wife keep sending out texts to a text group of about 20 people who all have to respond with "likes" or inane comments like "Beautiful!" or "How cute!". My phone is endlessly dinging with texts.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

.....the worst is being cc'd on email [ as really just and 'fyi' ] but then people continue talking about the subject and cc'ing everyone on the chain.......without removing irrelevant people.......will get 10-20 emails......that go straight to garbage....

There's an option to mute group texts or leave the conversation.

we have a friend who does this. Kinda a pain, but thankfully she's the only one I know (so far) who does it.
