208 horsepower and 1874 pounds, which I think is similar to an old VW bug. Would probably be fun to drive!

You mean just the weight, right?

Looks like a 1971 Opal GT

Which is not a bad thing.

In other news the last petrol Lotus was announced the other day. Their factory is just down the round from us.

Looks nice (and it does NOT look like an Opel GT IMHO). However, a cramped hardtop with tiny little vent windows would be way too claustrophobic for me.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I sooooo wanted an Opal GT when I was about to get my first car, but my dad said no. sad smiley
No doubt he was right as they were plagued with mechanical issues, but they were very cute.

If there are vents in the door window, what is the door crank for, I wonder?

With only one photo of the Wells' full exterior (profile), who can say?

Why no 3/4 or full front, full rear pictures?

The sheet metal looks like a cross of the Opel GT and a 1968 Lotus Elan. Why not just put a turbo upgrade on a Miata and call it a day?

Thanks for adding the additional exterior photos.

They lead me to say, if someone thinks this Wells looks like an Opel GT, their powers of observation lack refinement.

I disagree. It looks a lot like an Opal.
It has 4 wheels and headlights.

Yes, it has similar styling cues, but not as 'nice' as an Opel GT.

Not a fan of it, and the Brit car looks like a poor execution inspired by the OGT.

While a Miata has a certain fun appeal as a driver, hit has none of the élan of an Elan.

Add some HiPo to it and one has a fast and fairly agile handling but boring looking car.
