It's the little things that matter

you could say this Subject line is bait for Newt.

I use my M1 MacBook Air and I log out at 7:50 AM. I open the lid now, and before I log in, I see the same time, 7:50 AM. I even try to move the cursor over the clock to see if it would refresh, no...

Sure, I log in and the lock updates to 9:08 AM. Fine...

But, why not let the user see the actual time before that log in? Also a rogue actor could know when the machine was used the last time, since that's the last time shown in the log-in screen.

I believe the clock update behavior was different in earlier OS X versions. Not sure if this is a Bog Sur thing or an M1 thing, or maybe it was just a glitch on this machine. I will pay more attention next time I log in.

The SystemUIServer has been broken since 10.13.

Big Sur added a lot to burden it. Did not fix the bugs.

Maybe Apple will get around to some bug fixes in Monterey.

(Probably not.)
