Alright, three upper body workouts and several miles of walking. Eating less junk food. I hope I can avoid too much pizza this week since I am having some cravings.

Put 145 miles and >8k' of elevation gain on the bike in the last week.
Nothing else.
Resistance bands made it to the garage somehow and have not been seen since.

4.1 Mi/day last week. Completed July with 2 straight months of 10K steps/day though while in Arizona tried to head out only when the temps dipped below triple digits. Which meant between 10pm and midnight. Couldn't wait one night as motivation was waning and headed out at 11:20pm when it was 102F. Still better than in the morning as 88F at 8am with the sun on you is notably worse.

Pizza can be semi-healthy, depending on toppings, and you actually need some cholesterol to build muscle.

My friends are quick to tell me how 'carbs are needed' when I say 'wow, that's a lot of carbs, are you prepping for some 10Ks?'

Most of us have no trouble finding all the cholesterol and carbs we need, and then some.

Most people can probably significantly reduce their cholesterol and carb intake without impinging on their body's health or development.

That said, I love the subject line.

'Workout to eat' is now the only reason I workout.

Sure it's nice to maintain muscle tone, but the actual driving motivation for me is not worrying about grabbing a QTP Deluxe, Filet-o-Fish, and some fries when the spirit moves me, or getting a pizza for the next two days.

'Eat to workout' is part of that cycle, but more of a policy really, than a mantra.

On vacation for the past month (and away from the rowing machine and recumbent exercise bike).

Have been walking every morning between 5k - 8k steps. After that, it's relaxing and reading.

Am still learning how to lower my calorie intake to account for the reduced exercise each day.

Getting LOTS of steps in taking the new Pug around the neighborhood several times a day. Just recently got the yard completely enclosed and she does not know that she can just go into the yard; she wants to do the multi-block tour. Pretty fast walk when it is just the two of us (and weather permits).

Was on three different scales over the past couple of weeks and was surprised at the six pound difference in readings. Not sure that clothes make up that difference. Admittedly six pounds is not much to fret over, but I take the early warning signs seriously. As Barney would say, "Gotta nip it in the bud!"

Last week 10.1 miles of walking. Fewer miles due to poor air quality.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.
