older daughter in tampa needs to hand up a sign in her assigned parking spot. the walls are poured foundation concrete.

anyone know a tape that actually sticks to foundation concrete?

even my very good gaffer's tape and decent quality duck tape will not adhere.

i welcome any suggestions.

thanks in advance.

stay well.

Maybe you can sneak on a clear, heavy sealer first, to be a base?

or maybe instead of Tape, some adhesive on the back of the sign, like Liquid nails or some other thick and sticky stuff. Maybe even Great Stuff could work, that foam is impossible to clean.

Look up butyl adhesive tape. It's what we used to stick TOMs (temporary overlay markers) on the roads when they're doing the chip seal work. That stuff will rip the asphalt up before the adhesive lets go.

I no longer work for Pexco, but I used to make these by the thousands every day in both Yakima and Tacoma WA.

High strength foundation concrete will exude moisture for a long time.
Commercial grade construction adhesive might work.
Something like Liquid Nails LN-2000 Fuze It.

Flexseal?

This guy likes to saw boats in half to show how good it works.

(Half-joking, and I don’t know if it comes in double-sided, but it’s pretty thick and sticky, and I’ve used it successfully occasionally. And now it’s pretty widely available.)

They may make double-sided, but I’d try one of the butyl/VHB tapes first.

Gorilla Tough & Clear Double Sided Mounting Tape says it works on concrete and I see some independent verification that it does.

whatever you use, clean the surface with a degreaser such as rubbing alcohol. if it is a smooth surface, buff it a bit first, then clean it.

Flex seal actually works quite well for odd surfaces...no joke.
I broke down and tried the liquid and the tape a month ago..

Try the tape..i used it as a temporary fix on a shower floor and it's held up amazingly well..

shower floor..

Im planning on doing more tests with the liquid stuff too..

I have been seeing more and more contactors using this stuff for the same kinds of temp fixes
and being surprised and happy with the performance..

You can get the tape at Home Depot

she might also try some of the various flashing tapes, some butyl
..flashing for windows, roof repairs..extremely tenacious stuff.

I would use a wire brush to remove any loose debris, then clean it off before trying to adhere anything to it.

Drill a tiny tiny hole and tap a thin pin into it. Hang the sign like a picture with clear fishing line.

Out of curiosity, what do the other residents do? Your daughter can't be the only one with this issue?

It sounds like anything that will grip well enough might be a PITA to remove in order to leave no trace. Perhaps look into alternate options, such as hanging from a pipe overhead, or making it a freestanding sign? Or perhaps help the tape out by using one of those methods to reduce the weight the tape is supporting and then the tape only needs to keep the sign snug to the wall.

Can you make the sign lighter?

Yep, double sided outdoor tape should work OK.
I used the 3M outdoor double sided tape to hold house numbers on brick and it worked pretty well.

This. The butyl tape they sell to seal camper seams will stick to concrete. It won’t want to come off easily but while it’s on will be water tight. I actually have had some wide strips of it sealing an opening in cinder block on a basement wall while we decide what to do regarding some intake/exhaust options for an anticipated gas heater install down there. Airtight. No rain, no bugs.

Mike’s balloon suggestion looks better and better.
What is it that she wants to announce? Just curious…

Maybe a concrete block placed on the ground with a stick attached and the sign attached to the stick.

In Pittsburgh, we use a parking chair. The parking chair is sacred. You don't touch someone's parking chair if you want to live to see the dawn.

Well, the balloon will get droopy pretty quickly in the FL sunshine, so she might have to replace daily, but I am always up for balloon decorations. smiling smiley
