NYC temps will reach 94° with choking humidity in a couple of hours.
Heat index probably 105° and up.

How are you doing?

Wimps. That's pretty much a typical summer day here in Central FL.

Told my daughter, who lives near Prospect Park, that all those people who say AC is optional in NY will now know just how wrong they are. grinning smiley

rgC,

Same goes to _anyone_ who thinks you "just get used to the humidity" and don't need AC and/or a dehumidifier. They not just wrong. They're wrong on an entirely different level of wrongness.

It really is the humidity, not so much the heat. And whether ot not it gets below 70 at night. If it does, then I open the windows, turn on the attic fan, and turn off the ac.

MrBig,

Definitely. The humidity plays a _huge_ role. That's one of the reasons we have a 50 pint dehumidifier in our 3rd floor apartment. It makes a tangible difference and what would be just okay with ACs only is nice and comfortable with the ACs and the dehumidifier running. We fill its bucket a minimum of once per day during the summer months here in Long Island, NY.

Unfortunately, the city really traps the heat. I recall walking on Broadway in the uws a few years ago and it was about 9pm and it was still about 85f and ridiculously humid. The heat just stayed.

Another stay indoors day on the East Coast.
  • A/C working great, filtration just changed.
  • Plenty of ice.
  • Salad Fixins'.
  • Lots of fruit in the fridge.
At 2AM this morning it was 82F & Humidity read 75%; windows stayed closed!

Technically, the Galleria is in Redondo Beach, but I think it skews more to a Lawndale vibe.

Agreed. Was in Colorado last month, temps regularly reaching 95+, but felt like zero humidity. I just had to keep myself hydrated!

Yes, absolutely beautiful weather in Michigan right now. But just a day or so ago we had a week-long humidity festival.
