Another 'dairy' post: How's your butter doing on the counter?
Posted by: MrNoBody

The old post "...A question for consumers of real butter..."

With the recent spate of extreme heat, etc. is your butter still kept on the
counter or did you make a hasty retreat to the fridge?

As i don't run the A/C below 75F, mine is currently hiding in the fridge
during the day. Seems the crock was getting too warm sitting out on
the kitchen counter.

Thermostat at 77, butter on the counter. Keeps it shape and spreads nicely.

Keep regular butter and also Kerrygold (split lengthwise in half) on the counter. We keep the house at 78 in the summer and all is well.

As I said in the earlier thread, on the counter in a glass, covered butter dish. Only exception is a few weeks in the dead of summer I will keep it in the fridge.

Same butter weather report in my household. I don't buy Kerry Gold though. When I tried it this winter it melted in the dish so I don't think it would fare well in a GA summer. And this may be blasphemy but I didn't find it all that great. Aldi butter is just fine by me.

Still on the counter. I suppose the kitchen got up around 85º in late afternoon some days last week, but the butter hasn't puddled yet.

77º and in the 'fridge.

I bring it out for an hour before needing it, and it's near soft serve.

Any longer and I have to spoon it out.

Dip, spread, back in the 'fridge.

But it's worth the minor extra effort.

The stuff I was consuming probably wasn't any better for me, and the Kerrygold is very tasty.

Counter. Doing fine. I get irritated these days when I have to break a new stick out of the (refrigerated) box and it’s too hard to spread.

Just fine. But when Seattle hit triple digits for that week in early July, well, when we came home from Phoenix, we had a really moldy mess on our hands.
