Not seeing this. I see 500 GB drives for a little under $90.

Thanks!

That model is mislabeled on the web site. Everyone else says this model is 500MB/sec, not 1050MB/sec.

You will have to buy a Pro model (much more expensive) to get the 1050MB/s.

Not true.

I bought it yesterday at Costco for $99 and have it in my hands right now. The box clearly says up to 1050MB/s read, 1000 MB/s write.

The lower price is until August 29.

Still my favorite SSD drives. It's the only thing I own at this point, these tiny SanDisk portables. They look a little odd, all sticking out of their USB hub, but they work perfectly for the different drives (and backup) that I need. Can't say enough about how great they are. That $99 for a T is a damn good price.

okay, I looked and the one for sale at Costoco is the SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable SSD - Up to 1050MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2 - External Solid State Drive - SDSSDE61-1T00-AC

The one at Amazon is model SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable SSD - Up to 1050MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2 - External Solid State Drive - SDSSDE61-1T00-G25

I don't know if that makes a difference.
Regardless--Sam3 has the unit in his hand, so he is correct

Different retailers will often receive identical products with slightly different model numbers, for the consumer unfriendly practice of preventing price matching.

Gareth,

Yups. Mattress manufacturers are notorious for it. A mattress can be identical except for one teensy difference and that will be enough to make the company and/or retailer consider it entirely different model. In this case, the difference in the model numbers will make SanDisk and SanDisk retailers consider it a different device. Doesn't matter if they are actually identical in every other way.

These are $150 at AMZ (+tax) and B&H (no tax/payboo) so $100 (+tax) is still a better deal.

I have the Pro version of this (2000MB R/W) and I like it a lot.

Currently it retails for $200, so this Costco version, half the speed at half the price, is still a good deal.

The higher speed of the Pro version is wasted on a lot of Macs.

I'm tempted.

Oddly, they didn't have the Mac mini configuration listed below in store.

Ok, dumb question. I noticed it was formatted as ExFAT and I immediately reformatted for the Mac before even looking at the contents of the drive. Did I erase anything?
