Does this mean their lens barrels turn the correct way? I can never remember.

w00t, welcome to the club!

Mine is a Cyber-shot DSC-W7, Zeiss lens too -- DPReview gave it a "recommended"

I have the RX10 and RX100, for photos in my shop, family, and travel. Since my Hasselblad days, I've loved Zeiss lens design. Something subtle about the images that I don't see in others. I like the tilting screens too--the fully articulated ones are awkward for me.

Had a number of 'em -

DSC-R1 - beautiful fixed zeiss zoom lens with D200 sensor - passed onto another member here
DSC-W200 - kinda crappy point and shoot. Think it's lost in a drawer somewhere.
DSC-F717 - flexible and night vision. Traditional form factor it was not. Passed onto my father after he dropped his.
DSC-H1 - Sony's first superzoom camera that pushed me over the edge into a photography enthusiast. Still have it and the bevy of wide/tele/macro add-ons.

I’ve been shooting with an a6000 since 2017. I also use an Canon SX50.

Current lenses for my a6000 are:
Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS (kit lens)
Rokinon 12mm f/2 manual
Sony E 35mm f/1.8 OSS
Sony 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS

I’m thinking of picking up a Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS for handheld birding and upgrading to an a6400 or whatever they may roll out as an update if it comes this year.

a550 since 2010.

Sigma 17-70 f2.8/4.5
Minolta 50 f1.7 (beautiful colors on this one!)
Minolta 70-210 f4

Haven't really been using it the couple years since I got a decent smartphone though.

That looks like a great camera for travel, and to keep in my ski parka for long shots. If you were to do it again is there any other camera you would consider?

There were a couple of models that I liked better but were out of my price range - can't remember what they were now - this is a solid little camera, but it might have been updated since.

Like Z, I had a DSC-R1, one of the best cameras I ever owned.

I have been using Sony A mount full frame cameras for the last 12 years, and Minolta (same mount) before that.

Started with the A900, now mostly using the A99II. I have so much invested into high-end A-mount glass that I'll keep using the system even though it is now obsolete. Nothing against mirrorless, but for the types of shooting I do, I have no compelling reason to jump on the bandwagon at the moment.

Unless you're doing video then there's no difference. Your phone can rock video unless you're trying to make Casablanca 2.

I had an R1 too. VERY good image quality for the time, but a VERY strange form factor.

RX10 IV - awesome travel camera, great for shooting sports that require distance, like rowing.

RX100 VII - recently got it, still getting used to it. Not sure if I like it better than my wider-aperture Canon G5X.

DSC-R1 - It's a cool camera, very unique.

Guy at my local camera shop is quite the Sony lover, he tried to get me to switch from Canon to Sony, and said there's no real need to go larger than APS-C. He showed me images and video from his A6600 and they were very impressive.

I have the same A7r3, upgraded from an A72 a few years back. Have a 55 prime, 24-105, and the 100-400.

However I find myself using the iPhone more and more. I didn’t even bring the camera on a recent long weekend trip to the redwoods. Sigh.
