car parts shortage

went to my mechanic to get new front pads.
he showed me the warehouse he gets many parts for different makes from.
It's amazing how many NA there were.
Much of it made in gina and held up by low factory output and container ships held at sea outside the Port of LA.
Prices have remained steady thus far, but I doubt that will last.

It's bad. I had to have a bumper and tail light assembly replaced, the body shop grabbed the last of the latter in the Atlanta metro. If it hadn't been available it was 2-3 months before replacements will arrive from Japan.

Old friend of mine runs a Ford dealership, he's close to zero new car inventory right now due to parts shortages at the factory.

I just paid the highest cost for brake pads and parts for a 2005 Honda civic. Ridiculous, about 2x what would have been charged 2 years ago.

A new windshield for our older Tacoma truck is now on backorder until 9/13. Yeah, the other one broke when being removed to fix some rust intrusion around the window. It's tough to drive with no windshield.

Fortunately we can get by as long as our Bolt EV doesn't burst into flames...

sekker - me too. I paid $300 for '05 Accord front brake parts.
last time was 2014 $200, so I didn't think this time was too bad.
