Every web site keeps asking for permission for "cookies".

Am I right in thinking that giving them permission will flood me with spammy @#$%&?

You were getting cookies long before they had to ask permission.

Because they never asked, you were unaware of how many you were getting.

There's are apps that kill the Accept nag, which is annoying.

I use Firefox in private mode, and since it doesn't save cookies when the browsers closed (or Quit?) I accept with abandon.

Safari was supposed to do the same in one version, but I don't belive it does now, at least not that I've noticed.

Is that supposed to change down in Monterey?

I just go ahead and accept everything. I have adblockers to block out most of the ads and cookies DO serve purposes that are not nefarious.

One positive I have seen change:

When these cookie acceptance things first sorted appearing, inevitably every cookie was turned ON by default. That required the step of clicking 3 or 4 things off before accepting mandatory cookies.

More recently, it seems like the default is that only mandatory cookies are enabled and others are off by default. I am not sure if that happens because of Safari 14.1 or Ghostery or just that website owners had a come to Jeezus moment...

I always DECLINE. If a website or vendor wants to make life difficult for me, I'll close the offending window and move on. If more people did this, these scumsuckers would have to change their business model. angry villagers smiley
