Two questions about iPhones and MacBook Airs

I'm in the market for a new laptop and I think the 16gb/512gb MacBook Air model is what I want to get.

My question is, is the MacBook Air M1 due to be refreshed in the near future? I'm a little unsure of how long it has been out and what the upgrade cycle is for Apple's laptops.

Second question, I know the iPhone 13 is coming out soon. I usually end up getting the previous model because its cheaper. I read somewhere that the iPhone 12's battery charge didn't last as long as the iPhone 11. True? Not a big enough difference to worry about?

Announced in November of 2020, the MacBook Air is among the newest Macs in Apple's lineup and it is still believed to be fairly early in its product cycle.

5G sucks batteries dry in a hurry for very little payoff. Any 5G phone is gonna take at big hit over a comparable 4G LTE phone. The 12 mini takes a bigger hit for a smaller battery.

Here's how the Tom's Guide battery test works. It surfs the web continuously at 150 nits of screen brightness, launching a new site every 30 seconds until the battery drains. For the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, we ran this test over 5G and 4G, and the difference was pretty dramatic.

iPhone 11 (4G) 11:16
iPhone 12 (5G) 8:25
iPhone 12 mini (5G) 7:28

What is your current phone? Unless its newer than say 3 years old, any newer iPhone will have a longer battery...

And is battery life a problem for you now? If you are use an 6 or 6S, and go a full day, or never run out of battery, then meh?

Same with your mac. What you are running now? Specs? Even the last model 16" MBP get crushed by the base MBA in nearly every task. If you are running a 2010 MBP with barely anything, a base MBA will crush it.

you could google "when did the M1 MBA come out" and "when is the iPhone 13 coming" to get these answers in seconds...

The current MacBook Air is going to be likely faster and better than just about anything you have owned...so waiting for the next generation is probably not necessary.

You're probably fine with the 8g/512 configuration too.

I can generally get through the day on my 12 Pro with 30-50% battery left unless i have played a lot of Wordscapes. I don't find it has significantly less juice than my 11.

Apologies. The rumor is to be updated with the wide range of colors used on the M1 iMac, not the basic laptop color palettes of grey (i.e. 'silver), dark grey ('space grey'), and gold.
