"That Shaq sure knows his $h!t when it comes to pizza...."

According to Mrs. Buzz after chowing down on a Papa John's "Shaqaroni" pizza.

I can only best describe it as Costco pepperoni pizza on a thinner crust, and the pepperoni gets much closer to the edge than Costco's. The pepperoni is also sliced a hair thinner than Costco's, and is more liberally applied by pepperoni slices per square inch. It's $3 more than Costco for the same size pie, but for a pizza only run, at current gas prices, it's pretty much a wash.

Basically, if you're into utilitarian pepperoni pizzas, and PJ's is convenient, it's a viable option.... it ain't Pepe's Pizzeria Napoletana on Wooster Street in New Haven....

but it'll kick Domino's and Little Caesar's butts all over any high school or collegiate cafeteria.

We hit ours w/ some fresh micro-planed aged parm, and some 505 Hatch Fire Roasted Chile Peppers from Costco, along w/ some crushed red pepper flakes, so we might have amped it up a bit, but after all that, it seemed worth sharing.

Try Joe Peep's, it's not only worth the extra gas, it might provide some!

And a lot of other stuff too. There's still more. An endorsement machine.

I saw an interview with Shaq, and he will only endorse products he actually uses. He said when he was in college, the only place that would give him car insurance was "The General", so that's why he endorses them. I'm guessing that means he eats Kellogg's Corn Flakes and Papa John's pizza too. Seems like he's pretty savvy as far as business ventures post-NBA.

I love that story! It says a lot about the kind of person he is, too.

Jocks are notorious franchise owners.

Often it's a good thing.

".....so it put the Pep.....in your step.....???"

for those that have been to New Haven, that may be your best double entendre this decade century.

And for the rest of us?

When the pandemic subsides, it'll be worth the trip to New Haven to find out for yourself.
Heck, if you're anywhere near the upper east coast, it's worth the drive to New Haven, if time allows.

You no longer have to go to New Haven for Joe Pepe's - there are a few locations, now. Not true of Sally's, AFAIK.

If you're up in that area, try Nardelli's Sub Shop, too - great sandwiches.

Frank Pepe. The locations are sprouting up around Boston, too.

As long as he endorses only good quality products, may his endorsement offers fall like rain from the sky!

Uh, check that.

Rain has been very scarce in these parts.

But you get my drift.

I still eat Kellogg's Frosted Flats, working on the first bag of the two-bag Costco box.

I've never had a Papa John's Pizza, and ordinarily it probably wouldn't be worth the drive into Hayward to try.

It's a pleasant bike ride to Zachary's in Danville for a great deep dish pie.

But I see it's on my way to visit a elderly friend for a 'welfare check', so I might be tempted to grab one.

I do love pizza, even Domino's is worth eating.

Costco is pretty skimpy on the pepperoni.

Clearly a research run may be in order.

Yeah, Shaq seems like an OK dude.
