Norm Macdonald of SNL dies at 61.

I always enjoyed his work.

Macdonald’s death was announced to Deadline by his management firm Brillstein Entertainment. The comedian’s longtime producing partner and friend Lori Jo Hoekstra, who was with him when died, said Macdonald had been battling cancer for nearly a decade but was determined to keep his health struggles private, away from family, friends and fans.

“He was most proud of his comedy,” Hoekstra said. “He never wanted the diagnosis to affect the way the audience or any of his loved ones saw him. Norm was a pure comic. He once wrote that ‘a joke should catch someone by surprise, it should never pander.’ He certainly never pandered. Norm will be missed terribly.”

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Wow, that's a shock.

I've always liked him, and he was great with Seinfeld on Comedians in Cars...

To be actually funny without a script is truly awesome, and McDonald was.

A little less joy in the world.

RIP, Norm.

DAMN!! I very often get sucked into the YouTube vortex, and most of time it's because i see clips of Norm on the right side. I can't not watch a bunch. Even ones I've seen countless times. Then before I know it, I forgot what I was searching for before. Thankfully, his humor will remain accessible, though it sucks to know nothing new will come our way.

There's mourning in comedy-land today, no doubt. He was considered by many to be among the best, if not the best.

Definitely one of the funniest guys ever.

He was a funny guy! Very tasteless, so I guess I don't to worry about him visiting while I'm mowing the lawn!

Laugh in Perpetuity, you dirty dog! Haunt OJ too!

Oh no!! Much, much too soon!

R.I.P. Norm, you were a funny man and could always make me laugh.

He had his own talk show a few years back on Netflix. I really liked how he joked around with his guests and wondered why only one season.

Norm discussed his childhood and about growing up in Canada. Apparently, he grew up in a rustic area with no running water and an outhouse instead of an indoor toilet. He was hilarious talking about those days.

He was Letterman's last comedian guest. When they asked him why he said that if he could, he would have had Norm on every damn week.

It's like that everywhere in Canada.

Yeah, just kidding. He grew up in Quebec City—founded 1608, population 705,000. I think he was just kidding too.
