T-Mo is offering 30 bill credits instead of 24

My wife is ready for an upgrade. She loves the new iPhone 13 in pink.

However, in the last week or so, T-Mobile has changed nearly all their monthly purchase and credit promotions, even for the iPhone 12, to 30 months instead of 24 months. That means, in two years, I will have a chunk of cash to pay off so that she can upgrade again at the same time, and then I will lose the bill credits.

Not cool. Anybody else notice this?

Yep. This is why I said to read the fine print.

I think ATT is now doing 36 month lock in.

IMO lock in is all they have. I’m paying $18 a month for 8 Gb. I can buy the phone myself with the savings.

I'm chatting with a TMo rep and they're unable to make any adjustments. It's basically a take it or leave it proposition. Dumb, dumb, dumb. No thanks.

Who is your provider? IS that for one phone/line? Do they support wearables?

[www.redpocket.com] - I think they're an AT&T reseller, although they may cover other networks as well. They appear to support wearables - they're on Apple's approved list but they don't yet support eSIMs.

Oh, $18/month PREPAID. I always forget about that part. And yes, per line.

I'm on red pocket's Verizon branch. Works perfectly for my needs. I think they may also resell T-mobile as well.

However, with T-mobile's Now and Forever plan, you can upgrade every two years and turn in your phone for $800 off the newest model. If you have the base model iPhone 13, this is a good deal. If you are upgrading from a model with higher memory or a Pro model, it is less so, since their base price will be more than $800. I believe this is similar to AT&T's upgrade plan (it may have changed since I left AT&T a couple years ago).

I'm currently on Sprint with 6 lines and 6 paid-off phones. I have not migrated over to a T-mobile SIM yet. I paid off all the phones last month and now realized I should not have done this, since most cell phone providers will cover that if you move over to them.
I'm just not sure if you can double-dip with that and the lastest trade-in (or non-trade-in) deal, but I guess it's a moot point anyway. I'm trying to figure out the best deals in terms of service and phone cost. I'll probably spend the bulk of my weekend doing this.

You make it sound like a back to finals week. (that would be awful) Grandfathered on 5 unlimited T-M lines so I'd be interested in what your crunch produces.

I believe the Now and Forever plan requires Magenta Max. For us old guys, that's $90 a month for 2 lines vs. $70 a month for 2 lines for the regular Magenta (it's an extra $10 a line for the non-old-guy plans, as well). So, an extra $240 per line over the 2 years to get the Now and Forever plan for that phone. I presume they would do Now and Forever for both lines, so it would total $480 over the 2 years for 2 phones. It might be worthwhile, depending on what they will normally give in trade for a 2 year old iPhone. I dunno, but it's worth considering whether the extra cost of Magenta Max is worthwhile to get the $800 in trade-in value for a 2 year old iPhone.

Yet this is also covered by a 30-month bill credit plan. It’s weird.
