AT&T 36 Months

Had a chat with Andrea from AT&T today (see below).

Offering up to $800 off an iPhone 13, $1000 off a iPhone 13 Pro, in bill credits of course.

Important part is that I can "early pay off at any time since you are free of any contract"

So, theoretically, at 24 months in, I could pay $267 (800/36*12=266.67) to pay off the phone to replace it, or take it to another carrier!

San Antonio, TX (in the old city)

“Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." - Eli Weisel

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"I don’t want to see religious bigotry in any form. It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it." - Billy Graham 1981

"Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise" - Barry Goldwater

Keep in mind the 2-3 month delay in getting monthly credits.

I did this with an iPhone 6S last year for an iPhone 12. It’s an effective nearly 3 year effective ‘lock-in’ if I want all $700 back.

I’m ok with this at the moment. I’m taking my reduced monthly bill. But we have had some terrible customer service so I suspect we will consider moving to T-Mobile if it continues and our ‘5G’ from att continues to be no better than lte where we live. T-Mobile is true 5G in town.

Wife and I will probably do it. We've been on AT&T for many, many years and have no desire to switch. She gets a discount through work. So signing up for 36 more months doesn't faze us.

Same. Like 20 years with ATT (or cingualr?)... never bad service, never a problem with customer service, etc. And a discount from an old employer they are still taking off my bill.

Every once in while when I talk to an old time ATT rep and give them my # number they comment on how my number is really old...
