Did the recent zero-day exploit (Forced Entry) affect MasOS?

I know it affected iOS; did it affect MacOS, especially Mojave? We'e holding off upgrading because a scanner we use tops out at Mojave.

Thanks!

It's not clear to what extent Macs may be impacted by the vulnerability, but there was an important webkit patch for the Mac that went along with the patch for the PDF exploit in the latest security update. If you run under Catalina or Big Sur, install the Security updates.

Released on 13 September 2021

CoreGraphics

Available for: macOS Big Sur

Impact: Processing a maliciously crafted PDF may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.

Description: an integer overflow was addressed with improved input validation.

CVE-2021-30860: The Citizen Lab

WebKit

Available for: macOS Big Sur

Impact: processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.

Description: A use after free issue was addressed with improved memory management.

CVE-2021-30858: an anonymous researcher

I did notice that there's a Safari update for Mojave -- mentions it includes security enhancements. So probably Apple is aware that there are a significant number of Mojave users out there who won't, or can't, upgrade for whatever reason.

I think I missed the question.

You wanted to know if Mojave was safe... so you could keep your scanner, right?
