I got a super BF deal on an iPhone X a couple of years ago. I guess my phone will be three years old soon.
I think the 11s were already out when I got my X

I'm kind of tempted to take advantage of Apple's 0% financing offer.

I use Tracfone They have 3 or four slightly outdated on sale all the time. First one I bought was a 5S and now I have a 6S. I'm okay with it so far. But I don't live with my phone at my ear all the time.

But I don't live with my phone at my ear all the time.

That makes you unique.

Just like the rest of us.

I've always bought my 'Phones outright from Apple.

My OGSE and 12 mini were the first I bought SIM free.

That’s what I did. Yesterday I ordered the iPhone 13 Pro Max with Apple Card’s 0% offer. Previously I had gone through the iPhone Upgrade program that uses Citizens One 0% financing, but paid monthly with the Apple Card so I still got 3% back.

I bought SE2020's from Apple, trading in 6s phones. Then I let T-Mobile pay me more than they were worth to trade to 12 mini's.

Current SE2020 and Xr both from Swappa. Before those - SE, 5S, 7, 8, and another all used, some swappa, some private individuals

Bought our 4Ses and 6Ses direct from Apple, got 12s via good deal from T-Mobile (free Netflix, too).

Got my SE2020 (free after credits) by adding a line to our T-Mo Family Plan (also free). My wife and daughter turned in the 6 and 8 respectively toward new 12 models, again, after credits. We've been very happy with T-Mo and the 2 year commitment doesn't bother us.

I started with an Android Tracfone phone from HSN, where they triple the minutes and text when you buy more. The phone died a little over year after I bought it. I then bought an iPhone 6S plus from Gazelle and transfered it to the Tracfone plan and they let me keep the triple minutes and text plan.

I paid full retail at an Apple Store in Central FL back in February, 2020. That iPhone11 ProMax, 512GB ran about $1400 (plus more $$$ for AppleCare and sales tax). When I put said iPhone on a Visible account, I was VERY pleasantly surprised about two months later when Visible gave me a $200 rebate! (I seem to remember getting another $200+ off via the trade in of an iPhone8).

I was underwhelmed by the iPhone 12 and skipped that model. Next week, we should start seeing what "deals" are being offered on the iPhone13. Of course, there's still LOTS of life left in my 11 ProMax so, it will need to be a GREAT deal for me to "bite". If I DO "bite" I'll keep my 11 ProMax so, NO trade in for me there. old fogey smiley

My 3.5 year old Samsung Galaxy S10+ is the "top" model then sold. 12GB of RAM, 1 TB of onboard storage (with the ability to add a SECOND TB of storage via a memory card).

Apple's "Premier" iPhone 13 ProMax can NOT provide 12GB of RAM (I've read Apple's top out at 8GB). Apple has finally reached the 1TB storage level but, should you need (or just want) more storage space on your new new iPhone 13, you'll have to go with some sort of external solution.

How long have you been with you current carrier? Do you see yourself leaving within 2-3 years? If your answer is yes or "I don't know," then this may not be a factor.

But if don't see yourself leaving, you owe it to yourself to investigate loyalty offers. If you are likely to stay with your current provider anyway, it could mean 50% off or even an entirely free phone upgrade...and that could apply to every line on your account.

In the "olden days," the providers subsidized phone purchases. Pricing on phones was dramatically reduced if you committed to at least 2 years at a time, but monthly pricing was crazy expensive. Eliminating these expensive contracts was a boon to consumers and important to the growth of the industry as a whole, but while most consumers aren't likely to switch, the carriers are still competing for your business.
