Clearing out the junk in the house, I came across the old Sony video camera with tons of tapes of kids (now adults). Is there a reliable device that will let my soon to be delivered (!!!) M1 Mini save the video so I can do some family sharing and data storage ? Regular and S Video ?

whatever is on the camera (RCA?) to USB should do the trick. just did this with a small canon plam sized one not long ago.

Yes, there are tons of RCA to USB adapters. Some of them probably have S-Video also. I haven't used any of them, so I don't have any specific recommendations.

What kind of tapes / format? If they're MiniDV you should be able to transfer them in over Firewire with just adapters and proper cables, and have no loss in quality (digital on the tape).
