Old School video into an M1 Mini ?

Clearing out the junk in the house, I came across the old Sony video camera with tons of tapes of kids (now adults). Is there a reliable device that will let my soon to be delivered (!!!) M1 Mini save the video so I can do some family sharing and data storage ? Regular and S Video ?

whatever is on the camera (RCA?) to USB should do the trick. just did this with a small canon plam sized one not long ago.

Yes, there are tons of RCA to USB adapters. Some of them probably have S-Video also. I haven't used any of them, so I don't have any specific recommendations.

What kind of tapes / format? If they're MiniDV you should be able to transfer them in over Firewire with just adapters and proper cables, and have no loss in quality (digital on the tape).

I’ve digitized all our old video camera tapes using El Gato video capture (RCA inputs to USB2 output):

It has an h264 HW encoder so each hour of video results in a 1 GB file.

The software supposedly works under Rosetta 2:
