An echo of their 1978 wild card game. That game that went down in MLB history as the Bucky F***ing Dent game.

Yanks announcer John Sterling kicks off the proceedings.

… already a few mistakes by Cole tonight. And every one of them was hammered… He may not make it to the 5th inning.

Fast forward 25 years, didn't the Yankees' current mgr earn a similar nickname for doing something similar as a player???

Go Sox!

He did but by then the bloom was off the rose and superlatives already assigned. Interesting group of players in '78 five of them ended up in the Hall of Fame.

Wasn't worth a buck fifty tonight…

Looked just like any of the Padres' "aces" this season. LOL

It's been all Boston tonight. They've completely dominated the Yankees so far. Three outs left.

The season could easily be saved with a Cardinals victory tomorrow night …

I like Cole w/ his UCLA pedigree, and that he took a bunch of Yankee dough, but will never embrace the Yankees as a team. Sorry he got roughed up a bit tonight, but glad the Yanks took it on the chin.

Inman. Remember where there was a "five and dime" on that block?

Not really. I was in a bar watching the '78 game. Staying at the Shamrock Hilton and had to ask the barkeep to find the game on TV. I was the only patron watching, Houston wasn't exactly a baseball town back then but on the other hand there were no Yankee fans to put up with either.

LOL. I was in junior high. It was rainy weather in L.A. that day and our P.E. teacher let us stay inside and watch the game. My family had moved back to L.A. from Boston just three years prior, so I was still in my formative years as a Red Sox fan.
