Advertised as the "Perfect Starter Home"

3 bed, 2 bath, 986 SF built in '71 on a decent .2 AC lot.

Super busy freeway over the back fence, no landscaping, and just a *few* cell phone antennas out the back.

Only $1,000,000 ;)

Looks to be near the bottom. There is a 2 bed, 1 bath, 864 SF for $750K a few doors down. And a 4/2/1305 that sold for $1.3M not long ago. Smaller lot. Everything else is 1.1-1.4ish.

There's a spot not terribly far from where I live that would be exactly that home. Where is this listing for?

San Jose. Im sure the agent says "close to apple, google and other tech startups!"

Prob needs another $100K in work. $30+ for landscaping, unless you can DIY. And that would be A LOT of DIY.

What it buys in my area

I suppose you could telecommute to your tech start up in California. No state sales tax here. Or common sense.

yeah, plenty of examples of other stuff, I could easily find some stuff no more than a few miles away that would be over 2M for 1500 SF.

I see them often. Just put a $100,000,000 property up on my site for sale -- prob only 20 minutes from there.

I thought the "perfect starter home" was the funniest part to me. =)

But if you keep one wall, it is considered a remodel, and not new construction. Replace 4th wall at a later date after the final inspection is signed off.

They do that here in Seattle all the time, especially for the houseboats on Lake Union.

Yes, done around here as well. Admittedly, you are buying the land (and the school system) with this purchase, but still.

Get a free house with your garage!

(I despise the garage-house design.)
