It looks better, but when I was out the other night in the light rain, there were still little cloud like shapes all over.
Like mineral spots.

Is there a commercial product that really works that isn't more $$ than a windshield?

Years ago, I had some hard water spotting on my windshield; could not get it off with anything, and I tried everything. Went by the body shop and the guy used some windshield compound. Went on like wax, simple removal with a terrycloth. Afterwards, my windows were like they were just from the factory.

I've not found it since then. I'm sure I'm railroading right past it at the auto store or on Amazon.

Beyond that, I've used Perfect Glass and it works well. But I'd still rather find that compound/window wax.

Barkeeper's Friend. It contains oxalic acid, which will dissolve the hard water staining. The abrasive is feldspar, which is roughly the same hardness as the glass.

Clay bar is good. Commercial product like Invisible Glass is good, too.

Any regular automotive paint polish will work as long as it doesn’t say ‘not for use on glass.’

I learned the following from a pro detailer of high end cars.
On external glass & untinted inside glass, magic eraser sponge
dampened with glass cleaner. Follow with clean microfiber towels.
(microfiber towels should never be laundered using fabric softener)

Glass cleaner: in a 32oz spray bottle combine 15oz alcohol (91%),
15oz distilled water, 2oz distilled white vinegar. Shake before using.

Non-factory tinted windows require special products & never use the eraser sponges.
btw, never use any cleaners containing ammonia on a car.

Tried BF on the shower doors. Did nothing.
Heated vinegar and Dawn liquid did better.
But our house water may be harder than the rain.

The paste sounds like the Griots product. Their stuff is usually favored but a little $$$ for what it is.
I have a clay bar. I'll try that after BF.
Magic Eraser hasn't worked on the shower doors either, but .....

Fritz, try using along with the vinegar and Dawn, a flat, circular brush and a battery-operated drill on your shower doors and floors. This will make that chore a lot less tedious and will spare your arms. Worked for me. And I'm always a bit lax in getting this chore done.

Crazy as it seems for built up water marks on shower doors try WD 40. Then clean the WD 40 off in your normal cleaning way.

Sounds like we need to storm the front doors of the Windex corporation for false advertising.

Since I have to polish the granite kitchen tops (the one guy who got back to me was so exorbitant....), I'll dismount the shower doors and do them too. If need be the '05 windshield will get the same treatment. It's only the outside of the windshield that I haven't been able to clean enough to coat with Aquapel.

I keep bending my body hoping it'll still pliable for such occasions.
My knees disagree at times. But I say f'k 'em!

Perhaps I'll try a lil WD in a lower corner of the shower doors.

More like for changing their formula, the false advertising is secondary. Up until the mid-80s Windex worked great, but smelled so strongly of ammonia you'd need to leave a door open while cleaning the inside of a car's windows. Then they changed to a "New, Improved!" formula that didn't smell nearly as strong and didn't work half as well, either.

If you're dismounting the shower doors anyway, why not lay them flat on saw horses and cover them with vinegar in that position so it'll be better able to dissolve the hard water deposits.

Or, you could try Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner which will almost certainly dissolve the mineral deposits, but that WILL require gloves and lots of rinsing, and I'd definitely spot-test it on an inconspicuous corner first.

just did one half the windshield with Magic Eraser with Windex.
The other half BF and microfiber.
And their respective headlights, since I was there anyway.
See what comes.
If no better then onto to Stoners Invisible Glass.
Unless the glass is just @#$%& ...

I stopped using Windex years and years ago.

It leaves a film on any surface on which it's used.

For light cleaning, I'll use Glass Plus; it's a much better product than Windex.

For the first cleaning before the rain season (which we seldom get here) it's a gentle application of Soft Scrub.

It's amazing how well windshield wipers work after that cleaning.

No hard water here, so 409 makes short work of shower door cleaning, so it might help with car windows.

But I bet it could cause irremovable streaks in paint if allowed to drip and not cleaned double quick.

Careful on the inside...I scratched the inside coating using the green side of the green/yellow sponges.

inside hasn't been the issue.
But neither the BF nor the Magic Eraser with glass cleaner did anything for the outside.
