Bwanadik replacement for macOS?

Some time ago someone here mentioned Bwanadik to tell if one is connected to the Internet.

Yes, there are a lot of ways of checking, but Bwana put a Green or Red dot in the menu bar for go/no go status and it's been very handy for me, as I lose connection far too often.

It also provides the option of a popup alert for loss of connectivity, and connectivity recovery, all very handy.

It still works well in 10.12.6/HS, but it hasn't been updated for some time, and as near as I can tell, is now orphaned.

The Dev's domain is up for sale, and Safari can't find the updater's site.

I'd like a similar app for newer OSs, but can't find anything that's the equivalent of a CONNECTED/NOT CONNECTED idiot light/status indicator.

Any recommendations?

I use Network Diagnostics which is included with the OS. The window takes up too much screen space so I drag it to the lower right corner of the screen so that only the green ‘lights’ are visible and the rest of the window is off-screen.

The only substitute I've found is this, $10 bucks on the App Store.

My cable modem is where I can view the send & receive LEDs.
If both are blue, I've got a high speed connection.
That's one less 'app' I need.

I've used that from time to time, but got tired of the clicks to get to it.

But I'm trying your solution and I'll see how it goes.

I saw that earlier, but it's $10, and a lot more app than I need.

Mine isn't.

And because it isn't, I put a Kasa smart plug between it and AC, so I can restart it from another room.

Once I know it's not talking to the 'webs.

Thank you for all the suggestions, guys!
