If you're using health insurance and/or a prescription drug card to reduce the price of the test strips, check with them to see which ones they'll subsidize for the best price.

My previous insurance provider preferred OneTouch as a brand and subsidized OneTouch products. I jumped to a OneTouch Verio Flex smart meter, which I like quite a bit. Good meter. Good app. The provider after that prefer Ascensia Counter Next strips. So, I switched to a Ascencia Countour Next One smart meter. It was all about the bucks. Just changed insurance again and need to find out which brand is prefered. May end up having to switch again.

FWIW, the Ascenia Countour Next One was the more accurate meter. I prefer it. The app is good, too. I always have multiple meters. One at home. One at my office. If I travel, I have one on me and one in my suitcase.

Both my wife and my niece use Freestyle Libre. Both said it is very nice not having to poke your finger several times a day. My niece's doctor even monitors her blood sugar remotely. She has received a phone call asking if she was ok when her numbers varied from the desired level.

The only issue my wife has had is it falling off her arm early. However, you can contact the company and they will replace it.

My mistake. I thought you were talking about a different model. I've no experience with a continuous glucose metering system. Maybe in the near future but not yet. Same answer, though. Find out which will be the least expensive under Medicare and/or supplementary insurance.

My BIL has a Dexcom CGM for his Type I. My sister LOVES it. He has no real 'aura' when he's going too high or too low, and has had incidents (including going unconscious and crashing his car at 45mph). It alarms when he's going low, he monitors it, my sister monitors it, and will step out of a meeting and call him and tell him "Glucose NOW".

It's really revolutionary technology.

My experience with a Freestyle Libre was one that was used by the veterinarian hospital last year on our cat when he developed diabetes. The monitoring was easy and could also be done with an app on my son's iPhone.

I've used the Freestyle Libre 2 for (1) 14 day cycle.
It generally ran 40 points above a finger stick at the same time (mornings), 25 points above in the afternoon.
I'm type 2, so I wasn't making insulin decisions based on its numbers...

It was interesting for tracking trends after meals. I look forward to trying it again in a few weeks. It's an out-of-pocket expense, since my insurance doesn't cover it.
