Not just that, but it's exacerbating the extinction crisis currently being discussed at the United Nations biodiversity conference, which may result in collapse of the human habitat faster than direct climatic impacts. Here's an article on it:

NOVA last night featured an Arctic expedition. They wedged an icebreaker in the ice pack to float with the ice for a year. They found clouds were trapping heat and preventing thicker ice formation. The expedition ended early because the ice melted almost two months before expected (second fastest loss of ice on record). Possible good news is diatoms that fix CO₂ seem to be more plentiful then expected.
