Also, from what I understand; to run two displays I have to use the HDMI
port and a TB port (to HDMI cable), is that correct?

Since I just bought one last week (stupid) I kind of hope not, but one never knows.
I have a dock I bought from OWC for my old Mini that has an HDMI port on it for my second monitor. I like the idea of a dock for the cable nightmare that is my desk. SO many USB gizmos... time machine drive, external drives, peripherals, DVD /CD burner, and Radio Shack Scale !

Near future? Doubtful.

You are correct about running two monitors.

As soon as they update the mini, I'll give my first gen M1 mini to my son.

What kind of mac are you coming from... and whats your budget?

M1 is still a smoking chip... and odds are any "new and improved" mini is going to be double the $.

So if you were just budgeting for a base mini, it will most likely stay in the lineup, at the same cost...

exactly as you state, yep HDMI & TB to HDMI cable I guess.

Coming from 12-core cMP 5,1 48GB with Radeon RX570 8 GB.
Budget for base M1 and possibly a dock.

Well, if you only have a base M1 budget, then you are prob stuck with the current model.

As far as I can tell, there isn't gonna be an "M2". Like I mentioned, we might get a supercharged mini, with a M1M, but double the $$ over a regular M1.

The lineup will be M1 mini (same price), M1P mini (double $), M1M mini (double + $).

Maybe in a year we will get a M2, M2P and M2M -- but that's awhile...
