So, is the '14 inch' laptop a super-sized 13, or shrunken 15?

Apple used to have 13/15/17 size standards for laptops.

Then they dumped the 17 for years.

Then they rolled out the 16, which I think was supposed to be the replacement for the larger format machine.

But now they have a 14 inch.

So, is this really a smaller 15 inch, or is it a larger 13 inch?

Or is it a true replacement for the 14" Pismo!

And why do you say so?

Smaller 16-inch. There's even an overlap in CPU/GPU if you opt for the 10-core 14-inch. Same CPU/GPU/RAM as the low-end 16-inch.

Probably shouldn't go for the base 8-core 14-inch because there's not likely to be much of a performance gain over the old 8-core 13-inch M1 to justify the $300 price difference, and it doesn't come with the quick-charge power adapter that gives you 50% charge in 30 minutes... Tho the benefits of the additional ports and modest hike in the memory and GPU performance fuzzy that calculation up a bit so it's a close call for many use-cases.

Are we talking about performance, or physical working size of the screen? Cause I'd like to know how th new 14 and 16 stack up to my current 15 incher in the size department, if you know what I mean.
