Went to ALDI, well stocked

re: Went to Ikea - I was surprised that they're out of a lot of things

First time I've shopped on a Sunday. Saw no 'shortages' worth noting.
Plenty of paper goods, bakery, coffee, meats, deli, dairy, & frozen foods.
Did not see any item limit signs nor prices being jacked up.

Just guessing because this is East Coast, ALDI uses ports of NJ/NY & Norfolk
and their rail freight is mostly on CSX, not on Warren's BNSF.

wish they'd open closer, but perhaps they are more careful with self competition with TJs, unlike Starbucks (closed 200 in 2021) on every corner and Homies.

We have an Aldi close by (and we shop there), but the closest TJ's is 45 minutes away.

We’ve had no shortages at our Aldi. Try the Mama Cozzi’s Garlic Knots, yum.

There have been a few things that have gone missing. I searched two North Texas Aldi stores last week for chocolate chip cookies that my mom specified were "the ones in the blue package," but both stores had an empty space where they should be. No bottles of PurAqua seltzer, either. Earlier in the summer, I couldn't get the little cherry hand pies, but those have now reappeared. Might have been a supplier switch.

We've shopped at ALDI for 20+ years now. There have always been items there that disappeared for a while then eventually reappeared. It's just how ALDI rolls in normal times. It's been a running joke in my family. In comparison, I often go to Walmart to find there's one thing on my list that has an empty peg surrounded by full stock of everything else. I've seen that peg stay empty for months. That's just how Walmart rolls in normal times. I'm OK with normal.

Worth mentioning that Aldi has a large number of "Aldi Finds" that are deliberately here today; gone tomorrow. Some, particularly their "German Week" features, reappear about three times a year. Same for holiday season stuff, lots of it from Germany. Others are never seen again. I don't think I've ever regretted a food purchase I made from the limited-time shelf.

But I'm enough of an Aldi fan to know and distinguish the stuff they nearly always have.

Do they stock the thick German bread, like rye, pumpernickel, etc, in the small plastic packages of about one pound? Can't think of the names at the moment.

here's one
