I have $2400 to spend on two iMacs this week or an iMac and a Mini.

If I don't spend it, it goes away unspent.

I don't like the lack of ports on the new iMacs so I am looking at 2019 models.

I'd like a lot of RAM, a 1 TB drive and whatever vid card works best with older eyes. (What would that be?)

So many unanwered questions. Mainly about your needs and the vanishing $2,400 that needs to be spent on 2 outdated machines. Must you spend it all on refurbs or Intel?

I'd still go for M1 iMac (the middle one, not the cheapest one, so that you get Ethernet) and add a dock/hub. It's a desktop machine, so the hub is not much of an inconvenience. I mean, at most you lose 2 USB 3.0 ports and an SD card slot, and those are easy to use in a hub/dock

I too have more Qs.

What ports do you need/want? Whats your current mac and specs? Does it have to have 1 TB internal? Why "lots of ram"? Define "lots". Do the 2 need to be identical in specs? can one have more of everything, and the other less?

I too would start with the new middle M1 iMac, but the bonus of ethernet would be the *last* thing on the list of reasons. I hate wires, ethernet is forbidden in this house ;).

fwiw, a video card is irrelevant to screen clarity.

I bought two refurb iMacs basically by the "throw a dart" method. All good.

Every year. =)

Wife works for the county in public health and manages near 20 contracts, maybe $100 M -- I help her with the math cause she cant trust the ASOs. Spend or lose it is *not* just a mantra. =)
